My youngest will be 10 in mid December..for some reason she thinks she can do as she pleases. Usually the kids come home after school or after library time (about 4ish) and ask if they can go play until 6, well lately she just comes home at 6 and asks if she can play later......We live in an itty bitty town or the coming home at 6 would be an issue. I know I could find her without much effort, but she acts like she did nothing wrong. When I say something to her about it she becomes instant drama queen and acts like it is the end of the world.

And I thought I was the only one with that problem...

My problem is that it's not only DS (who's been this way for over a year now) but also DD who is 7.5 right now. She seems to think she is a pre-teen or 18yo, and yells back at me... and it doesn't help that her brother is exactly the same way!!! Angry

DS won't shut his mouth and even after I ask him to can it, he will still mouth off, until DH is ready to sock him.  But as soon as DH makes a move, DS will just start to cry like a 3yo.  Roll Eyes

I think are "aging" faster than they used to. I think I need to give them more responsibility. What I am saying, I think they need to "earn" what they do. My now teens had to earn what they did and they had responsibilities and acted MUCH better. MAybe I m being too nice

Omg, sounds like mine....DS and my girls  (8 and 6...yes, even the 6 year old!!!).  DD6 has this new "tone" she uses with me....kinda like the "whatever...."  voice a 14 year old would have!

I know that we are guilty of not giving DS as much independence/responsibility as we should.  It's sooo hard because to us, he still seems so young.  It is so hard to let go.  I was just talking to my grandma this morning about how "grown up" kids are now compared to when we were that age.
